The kids got a day off of school early in October, and since the weather was beautiful we took a quick over night trip up to McCall. We spent a short amount of time at Payette Lake in McCall, the weather was gorgeous while we were there. We stayed at a hotel in Cascade. The hotel lets you use their kayaks and canoes for free. Nate tipped over our canoe in the river when we were close to shore (luckily because none of us were wearing life jackets!). That is when I decided that canoeing was not really something that Grant or I was going to enjoy. We watched the other kids canoe and kayak all over the river. They had a lot of fun! We tried to hit one of our favorite fishing spots in the area, but all the best spots were taken, which meant we had to fish from the dock. Dock fishing is not a very desirable way to fish when you have a one year old. Grant and I spent most of our time in a picnic area close by where I watched him push his stroller around for what seemed like a very long time! Unfortunately the rest of the crew who were fishing got completely skunked, (Nate was super frustrated). The good thing about our kids and fishing is they don't get that frustrated when they don't catch anything they just love to be outside. It was a nice low key family excursion, which everyone enjoyed. We love going up to the McCall area, it's such a nice easy little place to get away to.

Lego man
Lincoln is our Lego man. The kid loves Lego's and is always thinking of such creative creations. After his class read "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" he built a Lego Chocolate factory. This day he built a Lego football stadium! He is always coming up with stuff to build. It is a good thing he loves the Lego's so much and that he plays with them A TON, because if not I would be highly tempted to throw our entire Lego collection in the garbage. I have a very complicated love hate relationship with Lego's. Although I struggle with the Lego's, I do love the creative outlet they are for my son, the Lego's are here to stay (at least for a little while :).
buddies
Lily and Grant are really such great buddies. She looks out for him like a second mother and he just adores her. He calls her "Yeye" and wants to do everything that she does. She is usually very patient with him and lets him tag along on all of her little activities. This day I got out a bunch of paper for Lily to color on while Grant took his nap. She was more than happy to share the paper and crayons with him when he woke up. They are such sweet friends. I love it!
tackle football
This year we let Carson start tackle football. I was very nervous about him starting tackle. In the end we let him make the decision. I'll be honest I was not sure that he would like it, but in the end he ended up having a lot of fun. Carson ended up on the defensive line, which he was happy about. On his last game of the year he got a tackle, which he was over the moon about. Carson's team did really well and ended up undefeated for the year. The team atmosphere was really fun and all the kids parents were very supportive and nice. It was a really fun season! Go Blitzers!
It begins - football season
So right along with the beginning of school comes the start of football season. Nate coached Lincolns team this fall, and he had a great season! Their team was the Packers. All of the kids on the team were really young, and most had never played football. It was amazing to see how far the kids had come by the end of the season. Lincoln had a lot of fun and loved having Nate as his coach.
first day of school
The first day of school this year was pretty uneventful. A little bit rushed, but all the kids got to their class lines on time and there were no tears at the send off. Carson was of course nervous for the first day of school and Lincoln was completely as ease. It's funny how kids are so different. Lily started preschool a week later than the boys and was excited to be attending Aunt Jamie's preschool with her cousin June. She started out not nervous for preschool, but then after about a week of going started crying after I dropped her off. That lasted a week or two and now she is good to go.
