We went on our annual Red Fish Lake camping trip in August. The trip almost got derailed by the forest fires, but through much perseverance we made it. When we initially headed up to Red Fish we had to turn around at Loman, because the road was closed due to fire. The only other alternative was to get there by going through Sun Valley. That little detour added some serious time to our trip, and we got to our camp site so late that Nate and I had to put up the tent in the dark. My parents, my sister Sandi and her family, and my sister Heather all joined us at Red Fish this year. We had a great time! We did our normal Red Fish activities: fishing (The kids Fish at a Fish hatchery there. I do feel a little bit bad about the number of fish our children send to meet their maker, but not enough to not take them next year.), hiking, biking, and playing at the beach. Carson insisted this year on casting and reeling in all his own fish. He is becoming quite the little fisherman. Lily still has a fascination with fish. This fascination caused her to get a little to close to the edge of the pond and fall right in. Her shoes never dried out she spent the rest of the trip fashionably dressed in sandals with socks. Lily and Eve also seemed especially taken with the dirt and loved to throw it in the air and rub it all over their faces. Over all it was a great trip and we enjoyed the company of all our family and being out in nature.

Lincoln's friend birthday
Lincoln had his first friend birthday party this summer. We decided to celebrate his 5th birthday early, because his birthday is so close to Christmas. He had a pirate themed birthday and my sister Sandi made the most adorable pirate cake ever! We did a lot of activities to keep the kids busy. When the kids were first arriving we helped them put on little pirate tattoos, we probably could have put tattoos on those kids for an hour they loved it. Next we had a treasure hunt where the kids followed clues and got pieces of their pirate ensemble (follow a clue get a patch, a hat etc.) At the end of the treasure hunt the kids found a treasure shaped pinata and then everyone got a few turns hitting the pinata. After that the kids defeated the "bad pirate" (aka Nate) with water balloons, we had lunch and cake and Ice Cream. Over all I think it was a really successful party and that the kids all had a tone of fun. At least I know Lincoln had a great time. I think we might make all Lincolns friend birthdays a summer event, it just makes the Holidays a little less crazy.
Carson turns 7
I know it was a ridiculously long time ago, but Carson turned 7 in June. For his birthday this year we went to Wahooz as a family. Carson decided that he wanted to spend most of his time there at bumper boats, the batting cage, and the arcade. After we partied it up at Wahooz we hurried over to a cousins baptism, and then we came home and had cake and ice cream with family. It was a very busy but very fun day. Carson is such a great kid! Just this morning Nate found Carson in Lily's room reading her a book (she had been crying) and being a great big brother. We are soooo lucky to have Carson in our family.
